ASRI Reinforces Sustainability Commitment as Minister of Environment Visits Mall of Indonesia

Mall of Indonesia (MOI), proudly welcomed the official visit of the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, S.Hut., M.P., as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to monitor the implementation of the Governor’s Regulation on Waste Management Obligations for Commercial Areas and Businesses.
The visit reflects the government’s commitment to ensure that commercial zones across Jakarta implement responsible and consistent waste management practices, in accordance with prevailing regulations. Minister Dr. Hanif Faisol Nurofiq and local government representatives visited MOI as a pilot project commercial site for inspection, encouraging collaboration between property managers and business operators in realizing environmental governance.
As a commercial property under ASRI’s management, Mall of Indonesia has long embraced integrated waste management initiatives aligned with the Governor’s Regulation. MOI believes that small, consistent actions can lead to meaningful impact for the environment.

Currently, MOI implements several tangible waste management practices, including:
- Dedicated three-bin waste segregation (Paper, Plastic/Can, Organic/Others) to help visitors and tenants sort waste at the source
- Operation of separate dry and wet waste stations (TPS) to reduce daily waste generation
- Ongoing waste sorting socialization for both F&B and non-F&B tenants through regular briefings, tenant gatherings, and updated house rules
- Daily waste measurement and logging to ensure transparency and accountability
- Sustained partnership with Arie Karya, which handles both organic and inorganic waste processing to minimize landfill contributions
- Composting organic waste, contributing to circular economy efforts. This year, MOI has produced compost used in hundreds of polybags for plant nursery initiatives
The management of Mall of Indonesia reaffirmed its dedication to supporting government regulations on waste reduction, separation, processing, and transport, integrating sustainability as a daily operational standard.
“We are honored to welcome Dr. Hanif Faisol Nurofiq to MOI for this important visit. As part of ASRI, we are committed to aligning our business operations with existing regulations, especially in sustainable waste management for commercial spaces like MOI. This visit is both a recognition and a motivation for us to keep moving forward in creating an environmentally conscious culture among our employees, tenants, and guests,” stated Alexander Halim Kusuma, CEO of ASRI.
Mall of Indonesia is committed to embedding waste management into everyday operations and invites all tenants and visitors to take part in this simple yet powerful movement: start separating your waste every day. Because collective action can lead to transformative change, toward a cleaner, greener Jakarta.
